CloseHuman beings have always worshiped...something. Birds. Stars. Mountains. Nature. Other human beings. In times past it was a popular practice to make an image of the thing being worshiped, to bow down to it, to offer sacrifices to it, to give gifts to it. Modern man struggles with his own idols and continues to give his life to them. Idolatry serves as one of the over-arching themes of Scripture; man's propensity to it and God's remedy for it. We all must evaluate what we are worshiping with our lives, what we are loving with our hearts, and what we must cast aside so we can possess the full majesty of God through Christ. Life is just as much defined by what we put away as it is by what we cling to.
