Pride and Justice
The world is full of things that are unjust and strike us as exceedingly unjust. One of the first phrases that our children often utter is, "That's not fair!" There seems to be something deep in a human's heart that desires justice, especially in the face of something horribly terrible or terribly personally offensive. As we are wronged or perceived to be wronged, we often cry out to God to make things right and to bring justice to a world that harms the helpless and innocent. But what happens when God answers that prayer? When he responds and lets his justice roll? We often find that we are more desperate for God's grace than we are for his mercy as we see our pride and rebellious spirit revealed.
