Preparing for Christmas with Black Friday
The day after Thanksgiving, a significant percent of the American population descends onto malls and stores all across America, each wanting their slice of the "incredible" sales. Presumably, this is how one is to prepare for Christmas, or at least, that is what all the commercials on TV would lead you to believe. But what if this was not helping us to prepare for Christmas, but rather pulled us further from the true meaning of Christmas? Have we gotten lost in the endless sea of consumerism, and turned Christmas into nothing more than an excuse for excess and indulgence? As we start this Advent season, let's be reminded of the true reason we celebrate! We remember Christ's incarnation, and we look forward expectantly to His return!
