Grieve, Prepare and Trust
God has called Isaiah to deliver a string of difficult messages, messages that have burdened his heart and that have included both judgment and hope. Now he gives him a special word for his own people and its a tough one too! Isaiah has to tell his people that they've made the wrong preparations- that they haven't spent any time getting their hearts ready. That they've trusted in the wrong people- that the people they've placed their hope in are already failing and will lead them only to loss and pain. That they've been upset about the wrong things- that they are more upset about losing a battle or losing possessions than they are about why these things are happening. We have been given a very similar mission by God- will we be faithful to tell what he has given us? Will we hang all of our troubles and burdens on the one who cannot fail?
