CloseLarge ships have been known to "slip their anchor" and drift about in the open sea or run ashore because they didn't have a secure line holding them fast. At other times, ships can be securely anchored but their mooring lines get snapped in high winds or heavy seas also resulting in these ships drifting about in rough waters. So many times our lives are like that. We think we've set our anchor and in even in the slightest disturbance we are cast afloat. We think our anchor is heavy enough to be immovable, but when the wind blows just so we are cast adrift. When life's storms come, when the night is at its darkest, when hope seems lost- what serves as your anchor? May the hope of Christ be born in you this Christmas! (Note- this was the Sunday immediately after the school shooting in Newtown, CT, on December 14, 2012)
