Knowing Your Enemy - Who Is He?
One of the fastest growing sports in America today is MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighting. You can watch two men going toe to toe. It's not boxing that only involves punching with gloves. No, this is full contact battle. And, unlike "professional wrestling" it is REAL. There is no acting or playing around. It is, as the UFC promotes, "As Real As It Gets." This fighting it out takes place in an octagon cage. The winner is trying to knock out his opponent or get him to "submit" to him by "tapping out" whereby he can tap his opponent with his hand or tap the floor with his hand in admission of defeat. Why this series now? Because we are noticing a significant number of families and people in our community being attacked by the enemy. It seems so many have forgotten that we are in a quest. Listen, if you are a true believer Satan hates you. You are engaged in what the Scripture describes as spiritual warfare. Like a fighter in the OCTAGON there is battle in front of us, and IT IS REAL! You must learn how to fight and not "tap out". God has already purchased the victory and given you everything you need to experience what is already true: Satan's defeat. Pastor Thomas is calling this, "the most timely and critical sermon series I have ever preached! I was resistant to preaching this because of the unhealthy way in which so many "preachers" have over dramatized the devil and spiritual warfare. I did not want to be categorized with them or be thought of in the way they are. But what the Scripture says about our enemy must be taught. So, many seem to be ignorant of who he is and his destructive prowess. Therefore, this teaching will be balanced as we must not overestimate the devil or underestimate him. He should not be given too much credit nor should a Christian be unaware of his schemes, devices, and deceptions!"
