Good News, Bad News
Sometimes in order to soften the blow of some particularly bad news, we'll try to think of something good to say. Some bit of good news to balance out the bad news. The first several chapters of Isaiah have contained a lot of bad news, but here God begins to more fully unfold his plans for grace and love and redemption. God reveals to us that no matter where we find ourselves, no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, no matter how far our sin has driven us from God, he has provided a hope and a life that transcends it all. That hope and life will be enough to see us through the darkest of days now and will sustain us until eternity because it is based on a relationship with Christ.
