Jesus Is...Our Purification
There is so much confusion today regarding religion. As spirituality interests are reportedly on the rise but as loyalty to denominations is on the decrease there is a lot of confusion about all things religious or spiritual. Even our language regarding spiritual things is hard to understand- sacraments, ordinances, baptism, salvation. Christ encountered similar confusion in his lifetime. There were a lot of religious people and a lot of religious ideas out there. And there was John the Baptist, a man who had a large following and talked about some radical ideas. Christ seemed to invite this kind of controversy. Its almost like he wanted to push people, to make them declare a side or an opinion on these things. He's still pushing people like this today, and he's still clearing up our wrong ideas about religion and God and salvation. And he's still demanding that we declare a decision regarding who he is and what he came to do.
