Power
Power is something many people crave and is often abused. Human power is based on taking something by force that gives a person control over others. We often want power and spend a lot of time and energy and resources clawing and fighting for it. Interestingly, the New Testament talks about power more than 150 times- that's a LOT! As we come to understand that God has prepared us to do big things in his Kingdom, we start to realize that those things are spiritual in nature. Even though they usually involve physical actions, ie- feeding the homeless, praying, sharing the Gospel, giving clothes to the needy, etc.- we quickly come to know that we can't do them by ourselves. We need power from some other source to make those things effective and lasting. God has an unusual way of giving us that power- but the good news is that he can give it! Will we submit to the process that he uses to get that power in us? Will we wrestle with him until his power flows into and through us?
