Detox: Me
In our natural created state, we are all worshipers. Because we are created in the image of God and bear that image in us, even in our fallenness, we know there is something worth our worship. We should direct our love and admiration and life-focus toward God, but the sin in our hearts tells us a lie. We convince ourselves that the best way for us to be happy is to follow our way. We convince ourselves that we are the best hope for happiness and we give ourselves over to the glorification of us. Any time we place our hope for righteousness, goodness, happiness, etc, in ourselves, we are worshiping us. And that self idolatry leads to many other grievous and egregious sins. The lie says, "I am the hero-worship me!"; God says, "Christ is the hero- worship him!"
