Choice and Service

We rely on other peoples' accounts to let us know what happened in the past. Whether its biographers or historians or economists or sociologists, we count on them to not only tell us about the past but how to learn from it and make the most of it. Joshua is at the end of his days and he recounts the history of God's dealings with Israel for all who can hear. He tells them that there are things that they need to defend against if they want to make sure that their lives have counted for something. And he tells them that God, the Bible, the Law and his life are all crying out for us to do two things- make a choice and serve.
